At what was then Caffè Casoni on Via Tornabuoni, Count Camillo Negroni asked the bartender in the 1920s to replace the soda water in his Americano with gin. The drink took his name. The bar later became Giacosa, changed hands to the Ferragamo family, and has now been refurbished with care. On a July evening, when the street empties of the fashion crowd and belongs again to the city, it is the most historically grounded aperitivo address in Florence. Order the drink it invented.
