At the end of August, the Ourika Valley hosts the Setti Fatma Moussem — an annual pilgrimage and popular festival in the High Atlas foothills, ninety minutes from the medina. The waterfalls above the village are running; the terraced fields are green before the autumn turns them; and the festival draws the surrounding Berber communities together in a gathering with several centuries of continuity behind it.
