Two hours from the medina, Imlil sits at the foot of the High Atlas, and in November the cooler, clearer air makes it the most comfortable time of year for the guided hike through the valley.

A morning in the mountains
The drive to Imlil takes about two hours, climbing out of the plain into the foothills. From the village a guide leads a hike of two to four hours through green and red rock terrain, with lunch on the terrace of the guide’s own house, looking over the village. By late autumn the first snow can reach the higher summits, which sharpens the view without making the walk any harder. It is a full day, six to eight hours with the drive, and one of the few that takes you entirely out of the city. We organise the day from Dar Al Dall: the drive, the guide and lunch, arranged through Youssef.
