Curator's pick

"The two top museums I love visiting in Florence and getting lost in are The Bargello and the Palatine Gallery in the Pitti Palace.

The Bargello is an incredible medieval building in the historic centre ideal for those who love sculpture. Don’t miss the ground floor exhibit of Tuscan 16th-century works with four masterpieces by Michelangelo.

At Pitti Palace, the Renaissance art in the Palatine Gallery is mesmerising, as is the history of the building - Florence's largest Palace. Situated on the city's south side in Oltrarno, a lovely neighbourhood to explore."

Favourite spot in Florence

"I love to wander around the Mercato Centrale on Saturday morning and do all my grocery shopping there. It's lovely to be in contact with the locals and have lunch around the San Lorenzo district, which is within walking distance from our Abitazione."

Favourite time of year in Florence

"All seasons are beautiful in Florence. However, my favourite time of the year is the spring and autumn. Walking in the public parks, visiting the Boboli and Bardini Gardens and absorbing all its beauty feels magical to me."

Where do I go for great art in the city?

"It's hard to say where not to go in Florence to see art! Here, the world's best art, architecture and history will surround you, it is one of the reasons I chose to live in Tuscany. For the classics, book tickets to the Uffizi. For something modern, Palazzo Strozzi always entertains with its exhibitions or the loggia in Piazza Signoria, especially at night."

Collaborators

Our Architect: SpaceStudio

Our Abitazione is a harmonious blend of late 19th century architecture and traditional Florentine detail from the 16th and 17th centuries. The area is rich in history, and was itself part of the Tuscan Renaissance when architect Giuseppe Poggi led the transformation of the city, the area, and our neighbours, Viali di Circonvallazione and Piazza della Libertà.

Today we are part of our own Florentine renaissance. Space Studio has carefully preserved our building’s original noble character, restoring our frescos and paintings, and refurbishing the enchanting Cocciopesto Veneziano flooring. Our Abitazione now seamlessly balances contemporary comfort with historic opulence.

Our Interior Designers: RecDi8

Uniting the Renaissance, baroque and neoclassical with modern and contemporary styles, our Abitazione is a miniature of Florence itself.

The focus is on light, order, symmetry, and space, contrasted with the rich velvets and damasks typical of Florence’s opulent history. Here contemporary luxuries shine through, while showcasing our rich cultural past. Never excessive or overloaded, with beauty and functionality in mind.
